Indianapolis Home

Updated: Dec 13, 2018

The first in a series, where I barge my way into a friend or relative's home, demand wine, and take pictures! (Which really isn't all that different from any other day of the week, come to think of it...)

In this case, my mom's condo. Now, the thing that's cool about this space is that most of the things have been around since I can remember, so there's this sense of history and continuity wherever she lives. From Indianapolis, to Cambridge, to Princeton, back to Cambridge, and finally back to Indianapolis....the odd thing will bite the dust (the old Eames lounge chair, circa 1958, finally sprang its last feather leak, and was relegated to her studio), but most everything else remains the same, like this old Sarouk rug, which my grandparents (who were antique dealers in their spare time) had gotten from an Iranian student who was visiting the States, and had brought with him to barter for US goods to take back home, and gave to her in the late 1960s:

(My bare feet, which have been walking across this rug for close to 50 years...)

A small sampling of the rest, collected over a lifetime of travel, antiquing, and flea marketing:
